In case you haven't heard, Intel appears to be playing the Megahertz game again.
If I understand correctly, to support the higher clock numbers (I'll hold off on using the word 'speed' for now), they again lengthened the Pipeline.
More of what caused the P4 to be slow when it was initially released.
It is not yet known whether the larger cache will overcome this shortfall. Not until actual samples get into the hands of testers.
