Sure, Apple is way ahead of the Wintel world, that's a
given.
But the success of the iPod is not about the inherent
technology, it's about design. It's about making an
extremely usable product, something the Wintel world is
not interested in, or particularly capable of making. Dell's
website is almost completely incomprehensible. Why do
you think they're capable of suddenly doing a good
interface design?
The point the iPod proves is that sometimes quality wins
