NAFTA Ushered in Outsourcing
NAFTA was the beginning of the end of the American dream for middle and lower class America. The first year NAFTA was signed into law, over 2 million manufacturing jobs left the United States--and never came back. Two million families were displaced because they had no jobs. And when you can't pay your bills, what happens? You lose.

As of last year, the unemployment rate here in America was 11 million people unemployed. That's alot of people considering that fact that out of the 240 million people in the US, some of those are babies, some are adolescents, some are teenagers who aren't of the age where they can work. Some of those 230 million Americans are in college and have only part time jobs. Some are retired and don't have to work. While others are living in nursing homes and can't work. Six million Americans are in prisons across this country. It makes me wonder just how many people can and are working.

And as for the unemployment figures. Those are not the true figures. When a person's unemployement benefits run out, the goverment looks at them as if they've found work, even if they haven't.

The first President Bush said we had as Americans had to remain competitive. But how can we compete with a worker in China who earns 12 cents an hour. We can't and President Bush knew this. Therefore, he and everyone who signed NAFTA into law is responsible for the job losses of today.

NAFTA helped only the top ranking members of a corporation. The CEO's and their multi million dollars salaries. Every time they want to raise their own salary or give bonuses to their top employees, they have to lay off thousands of workers to do this. Then, they can turn around and claim their company is making a profit.

There should be some laws, newer laws, concerning Capitalism here in America.

Rome was not conquered by a foreign power. It fell apart from within just as America is losing its work force and falling into disrepair. Eventually, only those who own corporations will be living the American dream while the rest of us will have to take a drastic cut in salary, with no benefits and no retirement--all in the name of remaining competive with workers in China, Taiwan and India.

America is supposed to be the richest country on earth. But in reality, only a handful of people, maybe 5 percent of our population are rich. Everyone else is struggling to make ends meet.

President Bush signed NAFTA. President Clinton signed NAFTA. And this President Bush signed NAFTA, as well. So did John Kerry.

I guess once a person gets into politics, they forget about their neighbors and those who helped get them elected and they join the millionaire's club and live off the public for the rest of their lives.

The president and the members of Congress get their healthcare free at our expense. They give themselves $4,000 raises every year. And they have a nice hefty retirement at our expense. Maybe everyone should become a politician so we can all live the good life.
