But there are quotas
There a quotas on the import of everything from cars to cashmere scarves. Not to mention the use of tariffs and taxes, thus balancing the import vs. domestic scales. Besides, most foreign car manufacturers built factories in the US to a) save on shipping the car b) reduce tariffs c) not worry about quotas. I still like most imports though.
