osreinstall, is AutoCAD the only application that you know/use?
Yes, there are many applications that pone uses (in employment) that do not fit well with mobile devices (smartphones, PDAs) but only a small number of people in the global population use things like AutoCAD! The estimated population of the United states is over 297 million, how many of them use AutoCAD? The global population is roughly about 6 billion (low estimate), what percentage of them even care about AutoCAD?

As I pointed out, Europe and Asia lean toward wireless networks (GRID, GSM/UMTS/...) and most of those people have a mobile phone. It is just a common device that people have. They may use a PC for work, they may even have one at home, but they are not fixated on stuff like AutoCAD or other localhost type applications.

Companies (medium sized to global multinationals) use centralized computing (where the back end could be a load balanced cluster getting 5 9's) and centralized storage 9which is sueful for backup and recovery of data. Even Microsoft leans towards networks and centralized storage these days. Business is now global, people are mobile.

If what you do needs a local host, use one. If you are intimidated by mobile phones, tablets and laptops, that is also fine! Perhaps you have only local clients and no asperations for international business, perhaps you are unaware of global competition and how many people use devices, computers and networks (you appear to be limited to AutoCAD).

If you enjoy being chained to a desk, are devoted to a single application (you appear to be) and can not adapt to changes, so be it! Most people are not as constrained as you (or as limited or wanting similar limitations). Do you even know what applications people use in their daily lives (most do not do AutoCAD, so...)?

People can raom, they can use laptops, smartphones, tablets, information kiosks, etc. Outside of the United states, there is connectivity, only Americans such as yourself are limited!
