ZDnet misses it again.
This article totally misses the point. In fact, this is all Intel spin.

What happened was, Prescot had hot spots. They simply could not cool the chip. So they had to *reduce* the speed of certain parts of the chip. Then, to recover the lost performance, they had to increase the pipline size.

The large pipeline will allow Prescot to make good enough benchmark scores. But the huge increase in latency will hurt it in real-world applications.

Hey, ZDnet! Why not write an article about that?
