My two cents to this...
Versions of Vista will have Virtual PC built-in, get everyone using them up to speed on what you need to support the lagacy apps.
They won't and will not wait for developers, other than VB 6, have they ever waited anyways? Isn't their whole marketing machine geered forward only? Even the monolithic POS business I work in is starting to feel it and move forward in fits and spurts rather quickly.
Sufficeint, yes, but not neat, cool, or even terribly fast at times. I wonder what it would be like to have a real-time virtual globe on the desktop and zoom into a factory and 'see' the cogs in production and check the RFID sensors covering the factory, and then even check the AD-enabled AI 'bots manning the factory. It ain't gonna be possible to do any of that with today's technology or program models. I also do not think it has happened in large degree because of the limitations of current programming models. Even the Nvidia lead scientist said we need more instruction and use of parallel programming models, for dual core+ CPUs, and not web services.
