I used removable hard drive since 7 years
Or the last time I had to use a backup and seeing there was nothing on the tape.

I used the tape drive and tape as a target for my brand new sledge hamer I bought specialy for the purpose.

I've implemented removable hard drive backup very easilly in 10 companies or so. Using very low tech : a DOS batch file with some xcopy instruction and the windows task scheduler.

Never had any problem since then and it occured that I could use the file when there was a failure in the computer. Since the guy who take care of the drive is living in an other town, it's a good backup solution.
