Why they are better in AMD products than HP, Dell and IBM?
Because ALL these companies looked at AMD as direct or indirect competitor to their OWN 'favorite' processors.

HP: co-invented and produced Itanium-2 that is directly competing Opteron in the high-end.

IBM: has power4 and 5 which simply are the competitor chips to Itanium-2 and ofcourses opterons.

Dell: PLEASE, they are Intel x86 through and through.

All these companies NEVER promoted Opteron as a viable high-end alternative.

Although SUN is sacrificing its own 64-bit RISC rpocessor, supporting full-speed the opteron is a strategic move to make headway.

Now, if this is a the right strategy given the mentality of the current market, remains to be seen.
