Not a problem with smartcards
This is not a problem with smartcards or cryptographic USB dongles. It wouldn't even be a problem if you used Bluetooth with a freak standing in the middle.

If you're sending a secret key, you've got the weakest authentication method available. Once you start using public key crypto, the man-in-the middle attack is useless.
