Virus Hunting Chipsets
It would be doubtful that chipset manufacturers would have problems introducing such a chip into the marketplace. They'd merely build it into their platforms and the chipsets would become the standard rather than a choice: do I WANT it or not. A Bill Gates way of introducing his OS's onto billions of machines.

As far as the chipsets themselves; it appears to be a somewhat revolutionary idea; however, as pointed out by others, virii and worms are evolving at a faster pace than the chipsets firmware could be offered. Soon, just like virus data files and spyware data files, we'd be held responsible for regular, even weekly firmware updates. And that simply doesn't work. Even in our business climate, where the risks are known, very few machines are updated with any regularity if they're not sitting on a LAN or WAN.

It almost appears to me, that the chipset manufacturers didn't have a lot of great ideas for presentation this year and brought out some older ideas before next years ideas are exposed. Something to fill attention spans and talk about.
