Great for the Road... not so good for the ....
Ok Boys and Girls, Intel has been able to reduce power consumption,

Pro
Notebooks, and other handheld devices will last longer, and with the improvments in batteries comming from japan sould make for some really nice equipment.
Sales will improve for the handheld market driving the stock price higher

Con
for the office people really don't care about being "green" no matter how much the envirmentalist try to jam it down our throats. They want speed and performance.
For the enterprise market (servers, VoiP PBX's and soforth) Speed and raw power are key to the trans coding or recoding from one voice codec to another. Large networks that have many clients working with very large files (Video post perduction) need that speed and power to complete their various duties and i dont think reducing the electric bill out weighs the cost of increased production.

All in all, I believe that it is a sign that Intel realizes that they are losing the battle for the Server/workstation market and are focusing thier market strategy on the consumer market. I personally dont really care about the power i consume at work (Tax write off), and when i'm home i want my computer to be fast. For the multitasker I think AMD is going to lead the market. I have 12 windows open right now running 8 diffrent application, not to mention the Java, dameon tools, symatec and other that load on startup.

Give me speed for my home and office, and conservation for the road.
