Because...
The top-of-the-line iBook is only $100 under a bottom-line PowerBook. By the time you add $200 for a SuperDrive, you are into 12" PowerBook territory. I guess an iBook with SuperDrive would poach too many sales of PowerBooks - both have 1 GHz G4s with 133MHz bus, so performance will be similar. You also get the iLife suite with an iBook, but not with a PowerBook.

This really puts pressure on getting G5s into PowerBooks ... Feb 04?
