RE: well...
I'm seeing some folks starting to jump on alpha (like tic, doh123 and a couple others,) but take a moment to look at alpha's statement...

"yes yes yes i understand cant compare apples 1k to a 200 dollar pc but at the end of the day the avg joe just wants to get online read stuff like this here, get emails, and maybe play a game or 2"

There's been no implication that cheap bottom-basement PCs are comparible to the iBook, but alpha makes a very valid point. Especially in today's economic climate, at the end of the day the bottom line dollar does rule, and is going to be difficult for an iBook to compete with a cheaper PC (laptop or not.) If I'm an average person looking for a PC today, price is going to be an extremely important factor. 3 years ago that wasn't the case. The economy rocked, I had unsolicited job offers coming to me several times a week, bonuses were great, companies weren't laying off, etc. During that period, price may have been an important deciding factor, but it was not nearly as important as it is today. Today the economy blows. Unemployment is through the roof, job offers aren't knocking at my door, bonuses are minimal (if existent at all) and several companies are laying off.
