Cell to revolutionize the Industry

This particular chip represents manythings that Microsoft and Intel will both come to hate. First, it is one of Sony's ventures, that Sony is not going at alone. Many remember the MiniDisc, The BetaMAX, the Memory Stick. These failures were by one company trying to sway the industry. The Cell is three companies working very closely together to build a very versatile chip.

Sure it won't be used in a PC, but who is to say the next home computing device will be a Personal Computer. And with IBM pushing Linux and Chiphopper and Hydra, there is no telling what can be accomplished on this chip. If linux has a chance to shine, it will be on Cell.
