There isn't anything wrong with Power4 or Power5 but they are making these servers for people who want those processors. In that arena there is Opteron and Itanium.
Some customers still want x86-32 code (a lot of it is legacy) to run. And Xeon is still the best bet for this. Sorry AMD fans, but while Opteron does an excellent job with x86-32 it isn't going to keep up with intel rev'ing P4/Xeon all the time (Prescott at 3.6 with larger cache and improved HT).
