Ditch the eco foam.
For some reason it is almost never mentioned in news stories that the foam problems started after NASA was conned into using a new type of foam that was thought to be better for the environment. It's backers swore it was "just as good" as the old stuff. Yeah, if you don't mind loosing a crew every now and then, not to mention the orbiter, I guess it is just as good...

Now it seems that NASA Mgmt and many others are too embarassed to admit that this happened. Sure the shuttle is getting old, and sure we need to work on something newer to replace it, but lets not deny reality just to avoid the uncomfortable truth.
