Specialized = mostly counters
These SiGe (pronounced "siggee") devices are used mostly for VCOs, divide-by-N frequency dividers, rational fraction M-divide-by-N dividers, phase comparators and other parts used to sysnthesize (PLL - Phased Locked Loop) and modulate (mix) the RF signals used in the radio section of a cell phone. They are not designed for busses, memory or any arbitrary data streams and would suffer serious problems with trace length errors for timing at such high frequencies (wavelength =~9mm on a 50 ohm trace).

On the side, SiGe is inherently low power and space tolerant so these will be a boon for satellite to ground links and radar.
