Typical Intel FUD
"There is a projection that says that Itanium and our 64-bit technology is so powerful that someday it could kind of obfuscate Xeon" in the second half of the decade, Fister said.

Haven't we been hearing this since Merced back in 2001? Even Intel must admit at some point that their bet to deviate from their own x86 architecture into EPIC territory has only brought them never-ending losses. Heck, most of their latest Xeon chips outperform the best Itaniums on a number of fronts.

And now we're hearing the same things again: "No, really, in 5 years, Itanium will be so powerful that everybody will be using it". Just not now, it seems.
