AMD increases their server share by over 50% and you all
get bogged down in a discussion of what constitutes a
monopoly?!?!

This is huge news, and in the end will do more to break
Intel's hold on the market than any lawsuit. Opteron is
probably the best price/performance deal in the server
world right now, and Intel is scrambling to catch up.

Intel can't employ the same "flood the market" technique
they used to drive sales of P4 chips when the Athlon was a
better deal because servers are just too important. Putting
cheap P4 PCs on everyone's desktop was a tiny risk
compared to putting poor-performing chips in your
servers.

I don't know how Intel fights back on this one. It will
probably take them at least a year to get something in the
market to compete, and I think AMD's server growth will
continue for at least that long.
