Watch out for DOA
We've had good results from both HP and IBM, however without naming names you should make sure you have adequate DOA coverage. Some of the boxen seem to have a high rate of stillbirth coming out of the shipping materials.

As for the MS terminal services, we don't use them. We're strictly technical Linux and don't even get rolling until there's at least 8 GB in a box.

Wish I could help more, but I'm not in the acquisition and support side of things -- I'm a user who dabbles in slinging clues at the IT support types (who are, bless 'em, making the personal conversion from Solaris and HP-UX on the fly.)
