- this is exactly what AMD needs
- If Sun drops the sparc architecture in favor of dual-core opteron it can only mean good things, over the past several years I have seen incredible performance advantage of oracle / sparc over oracle / NT & 2k server... All they need is to add more virtualization in solaris10 to support multi-os (i.e. vmware, since it is practically built-in to opteron) it would be very appealing to a data center looking to consolidate resources.
