Huh? Wow, what brilliance
Sorry kiddo - this had absolutely nothing to do with the US Treasury department. The commie thugs in the Central Committee saw how hot their economy was - and decided it did NOT want to go thru a period of massive inflation.

And Japan beat us in the marketplace? Where have you been? Japan has been in an almost permanent recessionary cycle for the last 10 years or more.

Basic Econ level 001. You (or someone in your household) goes to the store to buy groceries. Money is spent to buy Coke, Doritos, Twinkies. Does the person buying these commodities then sell produce back to the store? If not (and there are darn few that do any longer) then you are in a trade inbalance with that store.

Since over years that trade inbalance gets to be thousands and thousands of dollars, I would expect to see rampant poverty due to that lone single factor. One might say that you are in economic thrall to the grocery store. Yet you do not. So oh repeator of the drivel at The Daily Kos - how come?

You made an economic trade that was indeed equitable. The time and money that you spent in buying the readily consumed commodities at the store saved you over all - freeing you to do other work at a (one can hope) better rate of pay.

The books always get balanced - this is as fundamental as the law of thermodynamics.
