From what I've read, I'd be glad to have RFID blocked by congress. Maybe they'd actually do something right for once. But, barring that, your argument relating to "all use" shouldn't really apply here-RFID used to replace barcodes on groceries, and RFID used to place barcodes on humans, are two completely different classes of things. If it were possible to create a P2P application for only open source software etc and a P2P application for only music/movies/etc, then they could shut down the music one and let the OSS one run. Such as it is, that's not entirely possible. On the other hand, it _is_ possible to control RFID to only allow it to be put on certain things...
That said, I still think the door should be closed on it now because even though it would be possible to separate the uses, I feel like all it'll take is one nutjob to bring it over from "potentially useful consumer tool" to 1984. - Posted by: draqza@...
