Sorry, I guess I wasn't clear enough in
my reference to what I meant about costs. I was referring to component costs, primarily. Dell is well known to be the best at squeeezing suppliers for the absolute lowest prices for computer parts in the industry. And I'm sure they also get a very good deal from Microsoft for OS's and other software.
I agree about salaries. You don't get and keep good people by paying low wages.
