Told me that HP workers consider Hurd the "anti-Fiorina". They are all behind this guy - even while he's signaling layoffs. I guess no one believes that it will be THEM that gets laid off.
ON Compaq - He said that HP's PC lineup was weak and SOMETHING had to be done about it.
Who is this Randy Mott?!? Why would a dyed-in-the-wool M$ Windoze guy make a good CIO for HP? HP top-of-the-line Superdomes and high-line UNIX systems will get short shrift from "Mr. PC". Sounds like another you'll-never-get-fired-for-promoting-M$ type situation.
