No. Seriously, they should spend some of
their enormous iPod profits to run REAL ads in big city daily newspapers, national magazines like Time, Newsweek, etc. THAT'S advertising.
Word of mouth is cool and possibly the best form of advertising but it just doesn't have the reach needed to get a major bump in market share. Let's face it, everyone you know probably already has a Mac or is a confirmed pc user. The circle doesn't expand much beyond that group, right?
I don't know if you were serious or not about popups, but you know as well as I that most people turn them off or their browsers do it for them. It's cheap promotion but worthless too as no one sees them.
