HP trots out the $249 desktop

Congrats to HP.: They make good machines and wouldn't risk their reputation by selling junk that didn't work. As far as the OS, HP is simply including what the majority of consumers want and need, as evidenced by consumer sales figures year in and year out. Apple has not been able to change this and Linux aims their scattergun efforts at anybody but mainstream consumers. How can they buy it if they don't know what it is? Microsoft advertises, as does Apple. Do you expect them and the rest of the PC industry to donate money so Linux can advertise, too. We do not live in a socialist society. If you've got a product, promote it in the real world where the sales are. If you're not willing or able to compete on an equal level, you have no one to blame but yourselves.
