Funny how the EU and Japan have joined into a 20 year old food fight
Good one MJB

http://www.iht.com/articles/2005/07/12/business/intel.php
"Last month, Advanced Micro Devices, a U.S. chip maker and longtime rival of Intel, said it had filed two suits against Intel in Tokyo, seeking $55 million in damages for alleged violations of Japanese antitrust laws. The suits, filed in two courts in Tokyo, are part of a two-decade battle between Intel, the world's largest maker of computer chips, and AMD."

"AMD has also filed a suit in the U.S. District Court in Delaware, saying Intel had coerced 38 companies, including Dell and Sony, as it took control of 90 percent of the revenue generated by microprocessor sales."

This rings of "court shopping" to me. I also found this intersting tidbit in the International Herald story.

"In March, the commission said it was investigating Intel in cooperation with the Japanese authorities, who have warned Intel about unfair business practices that it said were stifling competition in the Japanese chip marker."

Proves to me what I have been argiung for a while now. These companies AMD, Real are taking their cues from the old Netscape versus Internet Explorer food fight of if you cannot beat them sue them for antitrust violations. Combine this with the EU and Japan engaging in protectionism via the courts their targets are going to lose no matter what. There will be fines levied and will the consumers that are supposed to be the ones harmed receive any recompaense? Nope.
