WTF?

NEC says it's "legitimate"? And because they do, it's ok?

Naturally, if the company RECEIVING the benefit$ of these "rebates" (some might prefer to use the world 'kickback'), we should accept THEIR word that it's perfectly fine. Interesting spin on their spin doctoring.

Does it also not make sense that xxx number of processors may have already been pre-determined by the braintrust at Intel so that it would give appearances that, see, we're not shutting AMD out of the marketplace. We are not privy to how much information was transferred between NEC and Intel; it should not surprise anyone if Intel generally knew how many CPUs NEC bought every year from all sources. From that it doesn't take a rocket scientist to do the math to come up with xxx number for the "rebate", and still throw a meager bone to AMD in the process to keep up appearances.

A conniving CFO maybe, but definitely not a rocket scientist.
