your right hardware validation....
in unimportant. neither is a stable driver base. refrence designs are not needed either. Its much better to design everything in house, cheeper that way right?

if you are building your own PC's for home use fine AMD works well if i am deploying 1000 workstations, mmmmmm no way in hell am i using AMD, and it has nothing to do with processors.

this is the way it is, if AMD win's I would expect PC prices to go up and quality to go down.

an AMD processor will run forever, unless the heatsink falls off or gets too dirty (only with old processors). To bad i can't say the same for asus abit gigabyte or any of the other motherboard makers out thier. As an ex system builder i know that the difference between a 1% failure rate (Intel) and a 5-10% failure rate is many thousands of dollars both actual and percieved.

Hardware is a commodity, i dont care if its super fast. The only thing i care about is that it is reliable year after year. AMD cannot touch this, I have had way wayyyyy too many AMD systems go out on me not because the Processor died but because the motherboard goes south, everytime this happens it cost me (the OEM) about $500, not to mention lost face, and it costs the client thousands,, i attribute this to AMD not raising the bar and providing an ultra reliable board/chipset.
