- AMD can win the day if Intel plays fair. in a climate where business treats
-
bribery and market hype as valid incentives for decision-making, Intel will drive AMD into the dumps.
before Athlon, AMD made their business by making cheaper hardware that was pin compatible with Intel hardware, but not quite as dependable.
then the platforms diverged and AMD had to convince pc-makers to support their's in addition to Intel's.
change is not easy for a business.
i have found that in the post-x586 world that the AMD product is often better and less expensive. this then allows for better tech additions to the platform to come up to an Intel price range.
since the question then is not one of quality or price, there must be some other reason for slow adoption of AMD hardware.
the only logical alternative is unfair tactics by Intel.
the so-called problem with M$ production of a 64-bit windows is a smoke-screen. when the only 64-bit harware was only intel, without 32-bit compatibility, M$ didn't have a problem. then AMD came out with their 64/32-bit processor and M$ couldn't do it until Intel came out with their copy. but windows is still Intel optimized so that the benchmark comparisons have to be taken in their biased context. - and still, windows 64 bit server only runs on itanium.
could it be the M$-Intel marriage that is the real culprit to AMD resistance?
in the business world, boardroom conspiracies are the spice of life.
if it were not for Linux and it's proponents, AMD 64/32-bit would have died on the vine.
M$ inability to crush Linux has prompted Intel to seek other alliances designed to shut AMD down.
will that drive M$ to embrace AMD?
show me the money!
