people refuse to grow up and move forward in life. It's easier to maintain the predjudice that has been harbored for generations. It's easier to lay blame elsewhere when the race card can be played.

Personally I agree with your contention of judge by character and merit. I have always lived that way and because I refuse to allow myself to be swayed by public opinion based on race / ethnicity I have many awesome friends of many colors and backgrounds.

In this I feel I am a much richer individual in that I learn from these culturally diverse and physically different people. What I learn is that no matter what is said, we are all the same. WE all love, hate, hurt, feel saddness and have ambition and goals. They may not be the same goals as others but that doesn't matter.

My Grandmother always taught me to never judge a man by his skin, but to judge him by the following:

1. Honor
2. Integrity
3. Actions
4. Honesty

And because of that I have many wonderful friends that are blank, yellow, brown and even white. And what's funny is I never really think about their skin color or their religious bent. But I think about the friendship and trust we have between us.

Another thing is the military really helps to break the racial barriers as well. Because that black kid may end up saving to sorry white ass in a pinch.

Bottom line, we as a race are still to damn immature to move past something as stupid as race. Maybe in another 5 generations?
