Minorities make small gains in science jobs

Asians are minorities, and...

Indians are Asians, too, but in some areas Asians are not
considered in these studies because their "over-representation"
means that they have succeeded in spite of historical prejudices
against them.

But a survey of Hollywood jobs would consider Asians as
minorities, because they are just as under-represented in that
industry as other minorities.

BostonITGuy says: "Of course you are correct, however "they"
only want to showcase "minorities" that get to their positions by
government assistance..."

The grand majority of minorities are NOT on government
assistance and caucasians still are the majority that get
government help. People who make such gross over-
generalizations may need to seek therapy in order to see the
real world.

"So if you worked hard, have self respect and didn't use one of
the approved routes to success, then you don't count."

Can a person who makes an inference like that be truly fair in
considering a minority for a job, or would they question
everything on the applicant's resume? Would it cross the
person's mind that a non-minority applicant may have coasted
through college using term papers purchased over the internet?
This is why the comment is so outrageous; too many
assumptions and no concrete facts.
