IBM releases Opteron blade servers

IBM has a funny way of promoting Opteron - they don't.

A month or 2 ago, IBM sales guy comes in to discuss with us alternative platforms for an aging mainframe. We run thru the pSeries stuff, and come to their blade server offerings. They only mention Intel-based products. We ask about the exciting Opteron-based products they unveiled a month before. We were given a quick brush-off on Opterons, with some phrase muttered to the effect that they don't represent IBM's main focus, and that the Intel-based stuff is where we should be looking.

I'm sure AMD would have been THRILLED with the show of support. "Thanks, partner!"
