These are all jellybean components at next to nothing profit margins. There are companies like Microchip that sells 1/2BILLION 8051's so volume does not mean squat.

IBM Microelectronics group is basically now a chip foundary. The build anything from CELL chips for Sony, Qualcomm cellphones chips, Power, Opterons and router chips for Cisco. This is not the development partner that Apple needs or wants.
