So how is it that the XBOX, PS3 and Nintendo consoles are so relatively small? And from the specs, they'll all run circles around PCs.
My point being, they won't get any special treatment from Intel, far different than IBM specifically making a chip for them.
Intel's architecture is old, they're introduction of the Itanic has been a flop, it's all about backward compatibility for them. How do you go forward when you're always dragging legacy code with you. Why do you think Microsoft went with a custom chip for the XBOX instead of off the shelf crap from Intel?
Apple just wasn't willing to do the same, their loss, and their customers loss too. Now they'll be nothing more than an odd OS that runs on x86, boy that's exciting.
