I second that!
Apple's usage of IBM processors was good publicity for IBM's processors - and that was it! A loss of sale of about 1.07 Million processors when they are looking at 150 Million processors (or more) to be sold in their PS3 Series, which by the way is better publicity will easily offset Steve's Defection to the Intel Platform.

Now coming to Steve's Apple - How important a customer is Steve going to be for Intel? In the PC Segment - MACs accounts for less than 5% (read somewhere it is about 2%)of all PC sales. Sure it is a prestigious customer - but will that alone drive Intel to supply the "power" that Steve needs.

To crown everything - the MAC's "Jewel of the Crown" OSx is going to work on only MACs which by the way would be able to run Windows/Linux as well. Is Steve really trying to give the MAC a chance at getting back to selling more units of MAC or is he just killing of all chances of survival.

Apple has been a company that has always beaten the odds. Not many (none that I know of) have survived a "base-processor" shift. They have done it successfuly once before - there is a good chance that it would survive this one as well. The I-pods are selling in plenty numbers, the sad part is Steve's Myopic strategy for the MAC is just preventing the MAC from gaining the numbers that it so easily can if it were to open up its architecture.
