Aah, what did you say about extension?

Exensions are part of the operating system, not the processor, though the processor utilizes them. In other words, Windows XP 64bit is actually a 32 bit with 64 bit extensions. The only 64 bit Windows OS is for the Itanium, and as all informed people know, only the Itanium runs on it.

And before you start arguing, here is the description of the Windows XP 64 OS from the Microsoft site.
"The x64-based versions of Windows Server 2003 and of Windows XP Professional x64 Edition support Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) AMD64 processors and Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology (EM64T) processors. The underlying architecture of these operating systems is based on 64-bit extensions to the standard x86 instruction set. Therefore, you can run 32-bit and 64-bit programs on x64-processor-based computers that are running an x64-based version of Windows Server 2003 or of Windows XP Professional x64 Edition."

Just thought you would like to know so that you do not make a fool of yourself.
