actually, OS-X ALREADY does run on x86: I've downloaded the Darwin kernel and put it on a PIII-based laptop just for grins. The core OS is there sans the fancy Aqua interface, the GUI is simply XWindows at that point. But the OS already DOES run on x86 systems.

With plenty of hardware drivers already out there for video cards - it shouldn't be that difficult for Apple to port the OS completely to x86 architecture and then box it up and sell it on the shelves for anyone to install as an alternative to Windows or even Linux.
