With server virtualization becomming the norm (with VMware, etc.), it doesn't make much sense to virtualize a 4 processor box. But when you have a 32 processor box, virtualization looks pretty good!

The problem with multi-cpu configs is that the motherboard manus need time to work out the CPU timing issues. This in effect means that multi-cpu CPU speeds are at least a year behind. I would SUSPECT that these Xeons would run at 2.6-2.8Ghz, while you could buy a top-of-the-line CPU today that runs at 3.6Ghz.
