You should learn Moore's law
Moore's law stated that every 18 months, computing specifications would double.

This was not necessarily GHz. As has been the case for some time. If you don't think so, remember that the 3.0 GHz processor has been out for 2.5 years. You just point out that Moore's law is dead.

Another point is that Moore's law isn't an exact science, nor has it ever really been.

Memory sales, or other specs such as Dual Core chips can push evelope to account for the performance not gained by GHz. Which, to me, being able to use more applications at the same speed in place of 1 application faster is far more meaningful to me.
