One problem not addressed (at least in the article) is the cooking of the cost/TPM ratio with the use of bogus pricing.

TPC benchmarks today are routinely run on "advanced" versions of machinery that isn't due to hit the market for months. The price stated often bears no resemblance to the price of the final systems. This is justified either by claiming that things turned out:

* To be more expensive than planned
* Because of necessary changes between the test and actual market
* Because the version tested, although powerful and inexpensive, was never marketed due to lack of interest.

I wonder if the TPC will ever get around to this part of the problem?
