DVD quality
DVD quality is very confusing term. Last time I checked and encoded real DVD quality (like studios offer) it needed 4.7 GB per single hour (not two or conversely four hours on 8.5GB disc).

Yes you can make two hour DVD complaint movie on 4.7GB disc or 4 hours on 8.5GB, but it certainly not be quality even close to what major labels offer. It will be not even much better than VHS due to poor compression quality.

Compression quality is a factor that can kill your high resolution picture quite easily. Haven't you ever seen "boxed" picture or jerky movement on your home made DVD? If so then perhaps don't listen to such editorials like this one on ZDNet and stick to fitting only one hour on one DVD. Then you can talk about "DVD quality" and standard compliance.

Good luck
