10/10 Converted fan of the E-P1

corringreen - 07/27/09

I've shot film Leicas and Olympus OMs for the past 30 years, and bought the E-P1 because I could use all of my old lenses. My main apprehension, though, was the lack of a viewfinder. In the end, I need not have worried, and find shooting with the E-P1 surprisingly natural. An added benefit is that I am quickly getting a feel for ISO/fStop/shutter speed that I NEVER had before because the E-P1 in manual mode (all I use it for) gives me immediate results instead of having to wait and pay for film developing. Now I find that I usually cary both the E-P1 and a film rangefinder with different lenses. If there is a really special shot that I think is most appropriate for the film camera/lens combo, I test shoot it with the E-P1 first so I don't waste a shot on the film. I know this will sound like I'm a salesperson or something, but this camera has really renewed my interest in photography. My only issue now is the RAW file type that Oly uses isn't supported by the most popular editing/storage software, but I've found a work- around for that, too.
