Consumers profit from the competition....
We've had Verizon DSL for over a year and we've had no problems with speed or service interruptions. We share the internet on two or more computers over wireless with no problems. Cost is $30 a month....beats cable by at least $10 in this area.

The cable company in this area had a monopoly that is finally crumbling. Because of real competition, they are no longer able to raise prices at an annual rate of 15% despite local "regulation".
I've watched this happen for the last 15 years.

In the phone arena, i've wanted naked DSL, so I have the option of dumping the land line for cells, but you can't get this yet (if ever) and Verizon is protecting the land line contract with bundle pricing controls.
