One other advantage of mainframes: IBM has been at it before most of today's techies were born. It didn't happen overnight, but they finally got the hardware, software and processes right. I'll take the mainframe shop over any collection of servers you can come up with, particularly MS boxes - virtual or real, Windows is a crappy OS. The old rule "Garbage-In, Garbage Out" also applies to the OS..great apps on garbage OS runs like garbage.
