Can you help me?
I have a 300 page Word document open right now and it's never crashed on me? It's my private journal. Please let me know what I'm doing wrong. Oh, i have 2 printers here in my home office and I changed back and forth several times just now and did not lose any formatting. Again, please send me instructions for making Word fail.

We have put oo.org on a few machines at one site and I have it loaded on a machine i use there. It's fine. I'm not going to say it's a piece of garbage, as you are insinuating about MSO. But I CHOOSE to use MSO 2007. It's the best and very highly praised and purchased for that matter, Office system. It' great at the old fashioned, write a letter to Granny or setup your home budget type of things. It's always been top notch as an office automation toolset. But each new version just keeps getting more and more integrated and provides so much value I won't use anything else. With MSO 2007, my personal productivity, and that of those using it at my main site, have shot up measurably. And why wouldn't it, the ribbon interface really does cut back on keystrokes and mouse clicks by the dozens per <ocument. It's highly context sensitive and allows complex tasks to be performed with a few clicks. The same tasks could have taken up to a half hour with older versions or Other versions of Office software.

And it's a great UI to the business. Hooking up Sharepoint (amazing and extremely popular product), SQL Server 2005 (one of the best SQL servers in the world with OLAP capabilities built in ) and a host of other server products, like Excel services etc., are simple to do and give great enhancement to any employee's productivity, not just admin, for example.

I mean I'm not trying to sell you on something I know you think is garbage in comparison, but there are legitimate professionals using MSO 2007, in the millions, everyday.

And I don't think undercutting the competition in the marketplace, below cost, is particularly legal. I hear people squawking about XP on OLPCs and their "predatory pricing" but when the competition's cost is below theirs, i guess "predatory pricing" kind of goes out the window, doesn't it?

I don't think it's ethical the way open source is going about things. Far more unethical than you believe Microsoft is. Linus Torvalds did not open up his kernel for this kind of use. he wanted it to be used with and not replace proprietary software. But when the Stallman followers got involved, since Richard thinks his contributions are far greater than Torvald's, the religious faction of open source users was born and the aim is total aniliation of closed source software.

And giving it away just might work someday. It's not yet, after what, 17 years of trying, but someday i think people will understand it really is a free lunch. Free as in beer. Free free free. Just what the world needs is an entire industry to be displaced and millions of jobs lost forever because of mob mentality and the power of hate.
