RE: Developers snub Vista in favor of XP
More than the developers, it is the average user who finds Vista tricky. Somehow people seem to love the candy bar colors of XP. Anything else may be too sophisticated or too frightening. People are more comfortable at a McDonald's or Burger King than in a five star gourmet restaurant. Vista does not even have the XP theme though it does have the Windows Classic (Windows 2000) theme. Microsoft would have fared better if they had the XP theme as the default interface in Vista. I have seen many people complaining about the way folder icons are displayed (vertical instead of horizontal) and even the colors. We develop software for both Vista and XP, and I have seen people liking the same software when demonstrated on XP vs demonstrating it on Vista. Sadly, the shapes, colors and borders make a difference too.
