FUD
"If you design sites, you're using dreamweaver or other design products, probably with various Macromedia products or their equivalents, plus databases, middleware, etc. All cost money, though some have 'open' alternatives, most of which are less robust."

Less robust? Apache? MySQL? PHP? These are the primary web stack for thousands upon thousands of "robust" websites. All free. All used by fortune 50 companies, governments, and even the teenage nerd down the street.

Unlike Adobe software, the latest versions run on Windows (all current flavors), OSX, and Linux (all current distros). I guess those open source guys know something Adobe doesn't?

Pure FUD on your part.
